slayde - Nights of No Sorrow
Weekly Music
Slayde has returned with a brand-new project, and this time he's brought us a full-length EP entitled "Nights of No Sorrow." With a total of nine tracks, this release showcases some of his finest work to date, solidifying its place as a standout underground project of the year. Slayde's remarkable talent shines through in every aspect of this production, but it's in his production skills where he truly excels. It's important to note that Slayde is a one-man show, handling all aspects of his music himself. What stands out most in his work is his masterful use of both acoustic and electronic drums. Regardless of the type of drums he employs, they consistently pack a powerful punch. His music feels rich and complete, a stark contrast to the dull and neglected sounds that often saturate the music scene. You can clearly sense that Slayde has poured his heart and soul into this project. Slayde's vocals and cadence are another high point in his music. His vocal range is truly beautiful, and his unique mixing style sets his cadence apart from the crowd. His songwriting and performance on this EP reflect a newfound maturity in his artistry. It's evident that his music has evolved significantly since his debut EP, "To Heal from Inner Scars" which already showcased an impressive level of quality given his limited resources. Rating this project is no easy task, as every track feels like a potential hit. There are no filler tracks here, each song adding to the cohesive experience Slayde has crafted. Not many artists invest the time and effort required to create a project filled with such high-caliber music. Slayde is one of the few who takes this dedication seriously, ensuring that every track will resonate for years to come. Some standout tracks that continue to draw me back are "How to Live Tonight," "FREE," "New to This...," "Leave That Up to Me," and "Heartchasin'." These songs leave a significant impact. The EP begins with "How to Live Tonight," which cleverly incorporates the sound of a VHS cassette tape being inserted into a player. It's a simple yet memorable way to kick off the listening experience. This track boasts one of the EP's best beats, with a fun and vibrant drum pattern featuring acoustic drums and bongos for a unique sound blend. Slayde's smooth and electrifying performance, complete with impressive vocal notes, adds excitement to the mix. "FREE" takes a darker turn, evoking a rainy city atmosphere with a haunting piano riff. The slow build-up heightens anticipation, and when the beat drops, it packs an extra punch. The powerful, bass-heavy 808 pattern perfectly complements Slayde's high-pitched vocals, creating a dynamic contrast. Slayde ventures into dance and house territory with "COLD," infusing a different energy into the production while maintaining his signature vocal style. The production evolves throughout the song, keeping things fresh and engaging. The EP concludes with the compelling "Heartchasin'," featuring a cinematic and menacing bass line. The production is lush and immersive, transitioning into a house and dance soundtrack in the final quarter. Slayde's melodies are captivating, delivered with unwavering intent and confidence, and amplified by the robust production. In summary, "Nights of No Sorrow" is a masterpiece from start to finish, leaving no room for criticism. It promises to be remembered as a classic and a pivotal moment in Slayde's burgeoning career. This release will find its dedicated audience and stand the test of time. We eagerly anticipate Slayde's next creative venture and I’m personally excited to witness his continued artistic growth.
