Zoe.L - I Told You
Weekly Music
Zoe.L has released her latest hit single, "I Told You." This track has been reaching major airwaves across the city and even reaching newer global audiences. Zoe has gotten into this zone that I feel she really executes beautifully. This more melodic R&B style seems to fit her vocal abilities very naturally. She has more room to expand on her talents and up her vocal quality within this genre than she would’’t be able to if she stuck to hip-hop or rap. This song puts everything into perspective, especially when combined with the music video she produced for it. The video opens up with cinematic shots of the city and a colorful title card. I love her style and energy behind the mix as much as i do when i see her in front of the camera. She exudes star-like quality energy, and her confidence is a huge factor in making her music hit that much harder. Her appearance in the video complemented the song perfectly, she has also found her look. Her consistency in her color palette and very unique wardrobe really helps set her aside from the rest. Color pallets and wardrobes are one of the most important parts of a music video or photos. That’s what separates professionals and amateurs. The track's simple yet thumpy bass serves as a strong backbone. The instrumentals are created from her vocals, which are simply mixed with this drowned-out effect that helps create a very unique sound. This is a completely new approach to creating an instrumental that I haven't heard in a long time, and it's a very welcome sound. Zoe's vocals have a fantastic pitch, and her melodies are infectious. Her strong hip-hop and rap background allow her to deliver her verse with power and energy. Because of her confident delivery, every word she says feels like it's the most important thing on the track. That combined with the hook that has been stuck in my mind since the first time I heard it, and it's all because of the melodies she created. She has this vibrant sound and flow that just consumes you while listening to the track. This is by far her best piece of work to date and its quality has truly set Zoe that much higher since its release. I'm looking forward to seeing what Zoe has in store for us next. I like where she's going and hope to see some kind of project in the near future.
