Slayde - to heal from inner scars, part two.
Weekly Music
Slayde released his new project titled, "to heal from inner scars, part two." This is the year's second project, a continuation of the previous one titled "to heal from inner scars." With this project, he really puts himself out there, and I admire his artistry. He has a fantastic voice and a cadence that perfectly conveys the message. His tonality and vocal range are excellent; they are unique, and I appreciate that. This is a 5 track project with not a single miss, every song has its own purpose and its own meaning behind it. The emotion behind the music is something I haven't felt in a long time; much of today's music is emotionless or just the same witty nonsense we hear every day. Rod Wave and my good friend Lil Esso are the only artists that make me think when I listen to their music. Their music just speaks to me, and Slayde has a lot of it. His lyrics and delivery are one thing, but his instrumentals and production are among the best in the city. His production is incredible and other is no better way to put that. The acoustic instruments are delivered beautifully, with a crisp mix and a fantastic overall master. Slayde outdid himself on the project just on the production end alone. That doesn't even take into account his vocal talent, which I believe is a big part of what makes his music stand out. The instrumentals are very cinematic and well-composed, but it is his vocals that keep that special energy in the music for me. It's difficult to choose favorites, but the standout singles for me are "whatdoyoumakeofus," "FOR A LIFETIME," and "Lenience," but my all-time favorite, vocal and instrumental, is "Oh, to heal." The track opens with a beautiful acoustic guitar riff that sets the mood. Then comes the acoustic drum kid and the beautiful harmonies delivered by Slayde. Truly a fantastic piece from top to bottom, the production is outstanding and does wonders in setting up the tone for the whole project. The fact that even with this very specific sound stage and sound style Slayde managed to create a very diverse project. You have tracks like “FOR A LIFETIME” that bring energy and aggression while tracks like “to live or to exist?” delivers a soft tone and a deeper rich emotional touch to the project. Tracks like “Oh, to heal” offer a more middle-ground approach, so there is a lot to enjoy and appreciate here. Slayde has something very special, and it's exciting to watch him mature and become the artist he's always wanted to be. He is a real legend in the making and one of the best new talents the city has to offer.
