Young Lung's latest single, "Bubblegum," is a breath of fresh air. I love the style that Lungs is pushing. On this track, he has a very different vocal delivery, and the instrumentals and beat really make this track stand out. I like how the beat has an unusual combination of sounds that work really well together, especially with Lung's vocal style. I really like how he used electronic sounds to build the beat; it's the abstract effects like the high-pitched tap and the thumpy almost distorted 808s that make this stand out. The sounds are difficult to describe because they are so unnatural and robotic, but they play a significant role in making this track what it is. It definitely sets the tone for the track right away. When combined with Lung's vocals, this piece really comes together. It exudes a vibe that is both new and exciting. This is due to the fact that you can hear a very electronic-centered beat with a more classic lyrical form of rap. It's not a boom-bap rap, but rather something with more character and personality. His lyrical play and the way he delivers each word are amazing; he does it with intent. He also adds a fun and catchy flow to everything. One that isn’t linear or predictable like many other lyricists. Aside from the already fun and catchy vibes, the very memorable hook is what sells this track as a mainstream hit. It's a standout feature of the track, something that sticks with you from the first minute you listen to it. Lung did an excellent job on this track, bringing something new and different to the city. I'd love to hear some kind of project with this kind of sound. A full-length album would be fantastic, but even a short EP would provide fans with a lot of content to chew on. Regardless of his next move, I’m here to listen to his future releases.
