NorthSideBenji is a talented Canadian rapper who has been making waves in the music industry with his unique sound and powerful lyrics. His latest project, "Prophecy" is a testament to his talent as a musician and his ability to connect with his audience on a deep level. "Prophecy" is a five-track EP that features no one but Benji himself. Benji has really come into his own in the past few years. He has reached new heights and new levels. His growth has continued to increase and his industry push and support has grown a lot over the past few years. Seeing him around some of the biggest Canadian and UK acts in the music scene is great. Is connection to the UK is well documented and scene. Toronto and the UK are very supportive to one another. Benji being one of the more popular of the names out there in the UK. The music scene out there is a lot bigger than here. But, Toronto is one of the biggest, most powerful in the entertainment industry when it comes to our talent, but when it comes to the infrastructure. It’s really not anywhere near where it should be. So to see Benji make it out and get to the level he got is a great deal of motivation of anyone in the city. This EP is a follow up on Benji’s 2021 album titled “The Extravagant Collection” which was a huge hit and one of the most iconic Toronto albums in recent memory. “5 AM in London,” “Here We Go,” and "Never Forget” are my personal favourites of the project. This EP has a more melodic and lighter feel to it. It’s not that high energy Benji, this is more of an emotional ride and one that feels like it’s tapping into a different side of him.

I love the diversity he is offering, he’s always showcased a greater understanding of music to his other music peers. His voice and vocal tonality and range was always greater than most of the others in the city. His close homie, the late and great Houdini (Rest In Peace) was the only one that actually could match Benji in talent. So having that raw and powerful voice mixed in with his influence in the community really resulted in a career that was made from the ground up and one that was made through quality music and pure dedication. That’s exactly what this project makes me feel. Seeing his creative workflow continue to level up is just seeing that guy who was once deep in the streets becoming a real superstar in front of our eyes. There are many things I can say about the project. But a few standouts are the quality production and his well executed delivery. Everything felt natural and cohesive, all the tracks felt like they belonged. His melodic cadence shines through every song. You get some classic Benji flows but also some new flows that gave me some R&B vibes. The consistent sound and production style helps give this project an identity, and makes it feel like one large song. Seeing this side of Benji emphasized on an entire EP is getting me excited for another album. I hope Benji got something in the works. We need some heavy hitters from the UK on that and a few new names from Toronto showcased. But regardless of what he does, I’m excited to see where he goes from here.
