Derin Falana - Good Problems
Weekly Music
Derin Falana, a Canadian rapper and singer-songwriter, has been making waves in the music industry with his latest project titled "Good Problems." The project features a collection of tracks that showcase Falana's unique style and approach to creating music, and it has been praised by fans and critics alike for its introspective lyrics, innovative production, and overall creativity. The thing that sticks out to me the most is Derin’s voice, his cadence is one of the stand out features of his music. He has this clear and cut voice that just sounds perfect. His flows and rhythms put that great voice to good use. He has this smoothness to him, the confidence radiates through the screen. “Good Problems” is a 3 track EP that delivers 3 great and memorable pieces. Tracks like “Good Problems” doesn’t even have drums to give it any kick. Derin does all the work with his flows and delivery. Which he executes perfectly and makes a beatless song very engaging. Perfect example of someone who doesn’t get carried by their instrumentals and beats. “Feeling Like Me” gives us a more vocal and melodic side of Derin. Giving us a more R&B aesthetic to the other two songs on the project. This is really where that great voice comes into full swing. Like I can’t stress enough how perfect his voice really sounds here. Everything from the mixing and mastering to the delivery and tonality all sounds superb and top notch. The production is done with precision and intent. No random YouTube Lil baby type beats. Real clean cut and well crafted ones, with intent and purpose. In addition to the quality of the music itself, "Good Problems" is also notable for the way in which Derin has approached the project as a whole. Rather than simply releasing a collection of tracks in no particular order, he has created a cohesive and immersive experience for listeners, with each song building on the themes and ideas explored in the ones that came before. Derin did a great job in such a short project and I can’t to see what he will do on a full length album.
