Last week 2 - Cholocash
Cholocash
Cholo, a Toronto based artist, has a distinct voice, and his latest single titled "Last Week 2" is a terrific blend of all he has to offer. Everything from the instrumentals to the flow, tempo, and delivery is pleasing. One thing that surprised me was the track's short length of only 1:24. This is quite brief for a track of this nature. A rap with beautiful lyrical singing. But it is here that he innovates and develops his own style. There are no rules to obey since rules are designed to be disregarded, and this was refreshing. It was unexpected yet nice to hear such a clear melodic track with so many elements in such a short amount of time.
Music is getting shorter and shorter in today's world, and perhaps doing so would encourage some of the younger generation to listen to more melodious music. Cholo made a really wise decision given that attention spans have been decreasing with each passing year. The most remembered feature is the emotional delivery. The pace and flow varied throughout to bring different levels of energy. The pace is straightforward, and the acoustic instrumentals provide a vintage vibe and intensity to the music. There is something that never gets old when you hear an acoustic instrument being samples in modern beats.
