Heart - Katozai
Katozai
Katozai has been providing us with fantastic tunes for the past year, and each release becomes better and more inventive. I appreciate Katozai's distinct style and tone. I know it's easy to say that in this genre, everyone sounds the same, but you'd be wrong about Katozai. His unique voice and cadence set him apart from the crowd, and his creative flows and delivery have also helped him build a devoted following that most mainstream artists can only dream of. But with his current hit, "hearts," he really bends music laws and styles to create something very melodic and catchy, yet so distinct and unlike anything I'd ever heard before. It all starts with the instrumentals, which open the track with a dark brooding vibe before dropping in the distorted bass to give the audience that much-needed thud. The mixing is rough, but it complements the angelic vocals and flawless delivery well. Even the way he mixes his vocals emphasizes the harshness of the lows and the angelic quality of the highs. This all fits in with Katozai's own flair in the production of his music. The instrumentals and tempo are so tailored to Kato that it all feels full and purposeful. That's what Kato has mastered: creating something from nothing and making it his own, and Kato may be the first person I can say that with 100% certainty. It's difficult to characterise Kato's style and approach since it's something new and distinct in the emerging underground scene in the United States, and now, finally, in Toronto. There are a lot of amazing talents coming ip but Kato really one them ones to look out for.
