Gemini - Pmid
Weekly Music
Pmid delivers another banger with “Gemini.” He seems to have found himself in the last few months. His appearance and style have become increasingly prominent with each release and content release, whether it's a track or an IG pick. His consistency and quality control is something that can’t be ignored. His sound has evolved even since his most recent EP, "STUCK AT THE TOP." Which was one of my top 10 projects of the underground scene last year. His more dance melodic house music style has given him an edge and a place in the underground that no one else has. That is, he is the main event in his own lane; there is no competition, and his quality is far superior to anyone who would even attempt to enter it. The only other artist that does this at a higher level with this sound is Drake himself, and that’s a very good look for Pmid. His versatility drives his music for me; it makes him far more interesting and far more of a long-term artist. "Gemini" is one of the more melodic dance tracks, and it's very well executed. The track begins with a clean house beat and a unique melody with atmospheric instrumentals. It really creates a great mood and aesthetic before we dive deeper into the song. Pmid's cadence on this track is consistent throughout, as are the way he delivers his vocals and the way he mixes it. The reverb and echo makes him sound angelic and gives the track a larger than life feeling. Pmid is having a good time with these tracks; it's just a vibe and a great overall listening experience. It's strangely not a happy track, but it's also not a sad track, which was really interesting to me and gave me a new perspective on how to make a different track. The beat and vibe switch at 2:05 is fantastic. It adds depth and excitement to the track while also highlighting Pmid's creativity and versatility, as previously stated. The deeper, lower bass notes also contribute to a shift in the overall atmosphere and vibe of the track, giving it two distinct sides. Pmid's vocal mixing on this is very interesting; the tone of the vocals lowers with the beat. It's a very unique approach and sound, and I love it. After hearing two tracks in the last six months with this style and sound, I believe we need a project of some kind, either an EP or a full project, with this vibe and aesthetic. Regardless of what he decides to do, I love his creativity and his ability to experiment and create. I'm excited to see what's next and what else he as in store for us this year.
