NLN just released his latest single titled “FULL CIRCLE.” NLN is a different breed. His sound and style are just something else, and I’m here for it. I love the approach he went with on this track. The abstract instrumental plays a big role in making this unique rhythm that really sets the entire aesthetic of the song. NLN is actually a producer and engineer himself so it’s amazing to see someone this talented and so diverse in his skill set. It’s not many artists out here that can do all that, this makes him a fully independent artist. NLN delivers a superb performance on this beat and his lyrical content is up there with some of the best I have heard in recent memory. Like I covered a few lyricists in the last month and this is by far the most impressive so far. His cadence and confidence are just so natural. His punchy vocals are a big aspect of his lyrics hitting so hard, mix that with that funky instrumental and you get this fresh new creation that’s original but still feels nostalgic. I love how NLN jumps right into everything. There is no intro or build-up, just goes straight in. In a lot of cases, the instrumentals have time to introduce the piece to us and give us a good read on the atmosphere but here, NLN’s vocals are part of that atmosphere and are part of the entire structure of the song itself. It’s like people sometimes say, some beats carry the artists and sometimes the artists carry the beat. Here, it’s a match made in heaven where both need each other to make the product we know and love. NLN’s performance would work on so many different beats but something about this one just feels different. His energy and lyricism play the biggest role in his performance. I think a project with a different more abstract approach like this song would be a great way to establish himself in the Toronto scene. There are so many possibilities, but regardless of what he does next, I will definitely be tuning in for the next release.
