Mallokay released a 15 track album titled “The Graduated Dropout" which features some powerful titles like “Killa,” “Latina,” and “I Am Not Sane” just to name a few. This project showcases a powerful and electrifying depiction of Mallokay’s voice. This project showcases his talents as both a rapper and a songwriter. This project is a testament to the power of music as a medium for self-expression and creativity. He has a unique diversity of track styles on this project, but they all keep that lyrical touch to them. That’s a consistent style choice that has become his bread and butter and I loved every bit of it. At its core, the project delivers some of the more unique and exciting tracks I have heard coming out of Toronto in the recent months. He changes things up across the project, songs like “Light It Up” bring a different side of Mallokay to the table. It’s that lyrical side but with a deeper heavier intent behind each lyric. The production behind that track is something else. It’s in a league of its own, it built and maintained a strong atmosphere that Mallokay drove home with his delivery. Mallokay’s cadence is one of my favorite aspects of his sound, that mixed with his flows and melodies all go hand in hand to create the sound we all know and love. His melodic and catchy hooks are some of the most fun aspects of his music. They are just so memorable and exciting. And his verses are probably his more technically achieved elements. His verses deliver amazing lyrical content with catchy flows and each song feels like something new. The production on these tracks take his verses to another level. “Killa” is my favorite track of the project and it is one of the more catchy and upbeat songs I have heard with a lyrical flow in a while. Mallokays sharp and confident delivery is one of the most exciting aspects of his music. The confidence behind the mic on all of these tracks are seamless. And his lyrics are delivered with passion and conviction, making it clear that he's speaking from the heart. This project is very well put together. Everything from the beat selection to the delivery to the unique flows and rhythms as well as the production all go hand in hand to deliver a solid and powerful project like “The Graduated Dropout.” This is a strong way to start the year.
