Lil Esso released his latest album titled “I CAN’T SAY I’M SORRY.”  This is the annual release he makes each year around his birthday. Esso released his "20" album with 20 songs last year on his 20th birthday last year, you may know the hit track off the album titled “Hawaii.” This year, he cut it down to 8 tracks and released a no-skip album. One that contains eight billboard-worthy songs that I believe all have a chance of reaching their target audience. For me, the standout tracks are "So Cold" with Jonah Zed, "Ran Out Of Love," and "To A Place" with Jon Green. Choosing my favorites is difficult because each song has a place in this project and each one contributes its own piece to the overall puzzle, which is what makes this project so good. Esso's production and writing have only gotten better in the last year. He is without a doubt one of my top three artists right now. His music is simply infectious; his production, writing, structure, and even delivery are all on point. I can't say the same for more than a few others. He has incredible abilities in all aspects of music, and the fact that he is so good at delivering it gives him a significant advantage. His voice was something Esso mentioned was a burden in his early life, and to see him make that his strong suit is incredible. He's currently using one of my favorite cadences; it just sounds different, and I know it's him when I hear it. It's unlike anything else, and that's what makes it so unique, not the technical aspects of it, cause everyone has their opinion of whether they like it or not. Regardless, he has done wonders with his voice and I can see him making it with that aspect alone. I enjoy the more unique takes on the project, such as the slower "Anxiety Talk." This is a slower, closer look at Esso with a more relaxed vibe. This track is just killer in the right mood, but it also has a strong mass appeal that the average person can relate to, which makes it even better. The lyrical content will be something some will enjoy and others will very much relate to. Esso also has faster, more underground-sounding tracks, such as "Let Me Go," that bring that hyper-pop sound to the table in his own unique way. This was one of my favorite tracks at first because of how different it sounded from the rest of his discography. The irony is that it also fits in; it does not sound like underground hyper pop, but rather a more mainstream version of that sound and style. That's something we've only heard from the likes of  Trippie Redd and TyFontaine. Everyone else, on the other hand, has that distinct sound that requires a unique perspective to appreciate. To summarise, Esso has delivered an incredible project with some of the best production and writing in the city, and his main star single "So Cold" is about to take a massive leap with its speed-up version, which will take over TikTok. I'm excited to continue following the journey of one of the city's future greats and the world’s next legend. looking forward to his next release.
