Kay Bandz - Switch Locations

Weekly Music

Kay Bandz just released his latest single titled “Switch Locations.” Kay has this vibe to his music, coming from Montreal the music scene out there is fantastic. The city has gotten a lot of support from platforms like Montreality. Incredibly talented people can be found all across Montreal, and Kay is unquestionably one of the more well-known acts. It seems to me that Kay Bandz has shown constant progress; he doesn't have one song that single-handedly established him; rather, there are a number of singles with a good and extensive reach. I like “Switch Locations” due to its more cinematic viby nature. I love the performance and flow of the track. The instrumentals open the track up with a dope harp riff and a clean flute undertone to set the atmosphere for the entire song. I love Kay’s chilled out almost ambient vocal style on this track. It’s an overall melodic delivery with a memorable hook and a smooth flow. Everything comes together flawlessly, including the instrumental choice, the performance by Kay himself, and the mixing mastering quality, it’s all done effortlessly but all come together perfectly. Some artists don’t always deliver well-mixed and mastered tracks but I'm glad to see Kay making it something of a consistent thing and a priority to get good mix quality and great mastering on his music. I’m a fan of the look and style of the music video, I’m not always of fan of these types of videos but the guys at 2tab do it differently. It’s something simple yet delivers a great visual to the track. It helps emphasize the story and pull details out that aren’t directly expressed in the lyrics. It has a purpose, and it does that goal perfectly. I'm eager to explore Kay's discography more in depth and see what else he has to offer. In the near future, I would love to see some form of a full-length project from him. Bringing talents from Montreal and Toronto together on one project would be crazy. Whatever he decides to do, you can count on me to be there when he releases new music.
