Mahkai G is by far Toronto's most promising emerging talent at only 9 years old. His most recent single, "ROCK! STEP!" isn't even available for streaming at the time of writing, but the official music video has been uploaded. When I saw it, it caught me off guard. It was a wonderful surprise to see such a youthful face creating good music and doing his thing. The song is a snappy, high-energy dance track created that would definitely have a high chance of garnering massive attention on TikTok. I can clearly see this being a major phenomenon, if not a trend. The catchy song, paired with a powerful drill beat and hyped visuals, makes for a very enjoyable and thrilling experience. His cadence is actually quite fantastic for a 9-year-old, he seems confident, and his engineer does an excellent job of blending him into the loud instrumentals. His voice isn't razor-sharp or too high-pitched; in fact, it's very excellent for someone his age. This song has only been released for a few hours, but when mixed with the video of all his young homies jumping around and hyping him up, it's just something that keeps me coming back for more.
