Hardaway - TkMN

TkMN, a Montreal local, is a bright young musician with a tune titled "Hardaway" that has been gaining traction. This music seems like it belongs on a mainstream Rapcaviar playlist. This record has gotten a lot of love and has had some of the best natural development I've seen in a long time. It was included on the Northern bar's Spotify playlist, which is one of the best ways to get found in Toronto. The response is strong, but the music speaks for itself. The simple but effective instrumentals aid in conveying Shaq's lyrics to the audience. Everything is brought together by the distinctive and catchy tune. Even the adlibs were done beautifully and left a lasting impression. It was an adlib I hadn't heard in a long time, and it was enough to make his imprint. It's a statement record, and that statement was heard all around town.

Shaq's career isn't extensive, but it's important to grasp where he came from with this type of track. His first project dates back to 2020, about a year ago. I don't think he's been rapping since 2020, but he did start releasing songs in that year. His discography is still tiny, but it does not entirely reflect the sound and manner heard on "Hardaway." Tracks like "News" have a very similar vibe, although "Heat Check," "Metro," and his most recent "Sick" all feature more autotuned, experimental sounds and beat/ instrumental choices. However, he knows how to fit a clean and memorable hook, as well as offer some fantastic flows throughout all of these picks. I can’t wait to see what he does next. This is a great first introduction.
