Gustavo Guaapo - Cartel
Weekly Music
Gustavo Guaapo's latest release, "Cartel," is another great melodic track with a fun summer vibe. Gustavo has been consistently dropping music, delivering some of his best work in the process. "Cartel" is another of his dynamic tracks, with a traditional cadence and a distinct flow. Guaapo also has this peculiar vocal tone shift that really brings out some unique effects; his experimental side is what will propel him forward. I love seeing the creative mind going off and creating things that are abstract at the moment, things that may be unusual always lead to something special. VYBZ created a beautiful summer mood poolside video for the single. Gustavo even mentioned in his video how the production draws inspiration from traditional Spanish and Latin instruments, which I love. Things like that bring a lot of meaning to something that people would just ignore or take for granted. When listening to the beat you really get the vibe, it’s got that Latin feel. But it does it in a subtle way. It's still a very hip-hop-styled beat but its instrumentals really do sound like some classic Latin Guitare riff. From the mixing to the instrumental mix, the overall production is excellent. All of this is done really nicely and compensates for the overall track's amazing quality. Gustavo's confidence exudes throughout the music, and the bars just flow. I feel like we're building up to another tape, even if it's a short one. I feel it will be a great way to have more options for experimenting and a way to show off more of his vocal abilities and also his lyrical side. There are a lot of things Guaapo can do but I just hope he keeps the consistency up and keeps releasing bangers.
