Lil Ot just released his latest track titled “Violence.” This is another one of those tracks that just hit differently when you know the history of the man behind the mic, he is speaking his truth. His cadence is a key component of his overall appeal, and his flows and delivery are some of the most digestible in the city. They are effortless and on-point. The track's production is superb, and the beat is just incredible. This may be my favorite beat from this year. The instrumentals are legendary, and the violins really evoke a certain emotion while creating a massive atmosphere with a powerful 808 as the backbone. Everything feels so purposeful, this is what makes this a classic. The incredibly controversial lyrics of Lil Ot are what makes him so compelling and fascinating. He isn’t reinventing the wheel but bringing his own world into a digestible piece of content and that’s something people need. Lil Ot might also be one of the only good rappers from Toronto with that sound, which is well-liked in the US. The Duvy cameo in the music video is also an amazing link-up between two of the hottest coming out of the street rap scene in the city.  It's great news for the city that the US is rocking with them just as much as we are. I hope to see more Us collaborations, it's necessary for the overall growth of the city. The US market is something we need to bring here and artists like Lil Ot might be some of the ones to actually do that. I appreciate Lil Ot's dedication to the song; his intensity is a huge component of his music. His delivery is some of the cleanest I have heard in the scene, and you can hear the passion and intensity behind every line. The prospect of Lil Ot dropping songs more frequently excites me. I'd want to hear more singles, but an album or EP would really get my attention. It's up to him to pick which. However, we are all eager to see what comes next and who he might work with.
