Body & A Face by Baka Not Nice

Baka has just released his new single, "Body & A Face." Baka has this energy to him that I really mess with. He is one of the artists who has made classics and done it without getting into any bad or overly public feuds. I really respect that, especially since he’s from Toronto, and not many at his level can say that. I hadn't heard of Baka specifically until this year when I realized how many of his classics I had been enjoying without realizing it was his, he is really a Toronto legend that doesn't get enough flowers. The track begins with an almost drowned-out instrumental, followed by Baka's ad-libs. Baka begins his hook before the beat kicks in, a nice build-up to a great beat drop with those very well-tuned and high-quality 808s. The production on this track is fantastic, and Baka's energy is contagious. His flow and delivery stand out the most to me. His cadence didn't immediately stand out to me at first, but there were things that began to really form in my head. His delivery really sets him apart, his mixing approach has largely to do with his sound and style. I love his earlier work with that more autotuned voice. Even in today's climate, he continues to dominate and capture this style extremely well. The overall flow and atmosphere of the track make it a playlist magnet. Its memorable hook and bouncy, fun vibes make it perfect for party and club settings, as well as the perfect performance material. Baka has performed in front of large crowds, and songs like these always get the crowd going crazy. It's a simple yet powerful song that's easy to remember and enjoy. Baka is one of the Toronto artists who have gone global, which is incredible to see. His breakout project, "4Mili," provided him with a much-needed boost and global exposure. His drake affiliation has only made things even bigger. I'm excited to hear more music from Baka; he's clearly a Toronto classic and I'm hoping for another major project or some massive unexpected single collabs. Regardless, we're hoping for some new heat very soon.
