FK Dame’s latest single titled “444” caught my attention last night and I was just blown away with how different it was while still delivering so much of what I love about music all in one song. Dame really gave us a banger with this one while also creating something fresh and new for the Toronto scene right now. You have to applaud him for that; I love it when artists do something out of the ordinary and take the risk of creating something that stands out rather than blend in. One of the most important aspects of the track is its fast, high energy level. The melodic and rhythmic Dame is its most important element but mixing the two created something very different and a style remains unnamed. If Dame continued to run in this direction, he would undoubtedly carve out his own lane and niche. The track features some insane production. The beat on this song contributes significantly to its memorability and uniqueness. There's something special about this track's beat selection, which is influenced by house music and dubstep respectfully. Of course there are other reasons for this choice by those are the examples that felt like sounded the most relevant to what “444” ended up delivering. The fast-paced, high-energy drums, combined with punchy, bright instrumentals, create a memorable experience. And hearing Dame sing on it was a pleasant surprise that gave this song a lot of points not only for being unique, but also for being so well executed. Dame has a fantastic voice; just hearing a few of his latest tracks gives you a good idea of his vocal range. He has excellent tone and control. This takes a lot of skill to master, and Dame is already employing it in his music. His vocal cadence on this song differs slightly from his other tracks, but it appears that Dame is still in the experimental phase. He hasn’t really been keeping one type of style overly consistent but for a good reason. "444" is one of those songs that, while it may not receive much love from your current fan base, has a lot of potential to take off on platforms like TikTok. This would set him apart from the rest of the city's artists. I hear a lot of music from Toronto, and this is some of the most unique and different I've heard. I'm excited to see where Dame goes next, and I'm hoping to see something this year. We need a full body of work to really see Dame’s full potential and to showcase to the industry that Dame is here to stay.
