TMB
Toronto artist blog.
TMB has been one of my personal favourites in the underground. His sound and style being so refined and so consistent has been a massive player in making him who he is. This and the fact that he does all of his work on his phone is just simply insane. He has found a style and sound that he can execute perfectly with whatever means he has at the moment. Keep in mind, he just graduated high school so he is a young kid and he already has so much potential. From my experience, he’s like your rappers favorite rapper. TMB is just a likable and talented kid with a bright future and seeing him keeping his music career consistent over the past year is exciting. There are a lot of ways to describe his sound but it’s more in the range of hyperpop, plugnb as well as elements of rage and even melodic rap. He can go off on a Yeat type beat but also deliver some incredible flow and melody on a lil baby type beat. He is really versatile in that sense. The newer generation is a very exciting and unique sound because it has no boundaries. They use their voices to create new instrumentals and effects. Yeat is someone who is notorious for doing that in his music. Keep in mind that TMB does his own mixing on his phone. That fact alone is something that would make anyone amazed but it’s also the speed at which he does it. It’s exciting to see that level of excitement and use of resources that makes me inspired even though I’m not a rapper. That being said, TMB’s discography is not large but it delivers a punch and has some of the best hyperpop, plugnb sounds coming out of the city today. His discography begins back in 2020 with a single titled “TIMELESS” which has this mix of his more heavily mixed vocals with a more traditional hiphop beat to accompany it. He delivers a different, less attractive melody but has a clean and memorable flow. His next single wold come in 2021 titled “HEAVY METAL.” This track is very similar in flow and melody to the last, he just sounds so laid back and chill.
This is such a massive difference to who he is now in general but especially his music. His new music is just packed with energy. Things would speed up in 2022 with a total of 3 singles, (one more on the way) and a 7 project that really set the tone for TMB’s career. The first single “NoFriendz” was released with a music video directed by me. This was when TMB really took the driver seat in his career and started to release the music we all know and love. This was the first massive step, the beat on this track alone was just incredible. Still can’t get it out my mind today. His cadence and delivery was so powerful and memorable it was on repeat for months after. It even got a cosign from Nav himself, who really enjoyed it and got to listen to it via discord. His next track would be titled “TrackHawk” which like mentioned before gave us a Lil Baby type beat with TMB’s classic cadence, melodies and insane flow structure. It also has one of the most memorable hooks to this day. Shit just couldn’t get any better. His next and his most important release was his first project titled “Who Is TMB.” This project featured 7 track with all of which being new. The project had a good consistent sound and aesthetic but it also had a good range. “South Of Dakota” being one of my favorites was one of the fastest and high energy tracks. It was his Lil baby type track with his own Candace and flow. I feel like he really started something new with his combo of sounds. It's my favorite thing coming out of his discography. It’s unique nature is what draws me in. The rest of the project is a hyperpop, rage and plugnb heavy. He got heavy hitters like “Wassup” and “2DaBank” but the project had a this amazing melodic tone to it with the rest of the project. “Uh…,” “Losin My Voice Interlude,” and “30s Inna Range” being my personal favorites. He melodic flows and lyrical structure is something amazing and very unique to himself. He really feels and sounds like his own artists and unlike anyone else and that is something that is increasing his potential overall. I’m excited to see where TMB goes next, he really is one of the next up and I can’t wait to see him on some big collabs next year and hopefully hear a full length album.
