Remsen
Toronto artist blog
Remsen is someone I have been waiting to talk about for months now. After his latest album release titled “DMT”. This is a highly anticipated album with the lead single being “FREEBODY”. This was featured in last week’s track of the week and has been one of his most proclaimed releases. This is a new step for Remsen and his fellow homies Antwunn and Sunny Addams. These are the three leaders in this new sound and group in the city. They aren’t an official group but are working closely together. Remsen is someone who isn’t following trends but is doing what he feels and what he enjoys. This is when an artist gets the most creative and starts to make his own mark and his own momentum. The Toronto native has been releasing music since 2018. His sound has evolved over the last three years. Going from the monotone rap on “Looking” to a more creative energetic vibrant lyrical masterpiece like “FREEBODY”. When an artist evolves means they want to get better and want to continue to explore to find their true selves. When artists sound the same it mostly means a lack of creativity or done for a monetary benefit, trying to sell what sold before. Remsen is far from that, just like what we built and will continue to build DMTV on and that is that genuine creative roots and that passion to innovate and pioneer. That’s what will take Remsen to the mainstream and help him become an icon rather than a forgotten one-hit wonder like most other rappers. Remsen is a technical and talented artist with a vision, he is on a journey to find himself and find his next sound. There is no such thing as the one or the sound or the look because regardless of how successful that is or how much you like doing it. It’s important to move on and evolve. Get used to change and get yourself out of your comfort zone. This is the fall of most people and the reason most don’t reach their full potential. The lack of motivation to go out of the comfort zone and experience new things and discover new possibilities. DMTV was built off of taking risks and taking leaps that most wouldn’t but that also means most wouldn’t handle the stress and mental strength it takes to fail and to push on to the next day to take a win.
