KTOE
Toronto artist blog
KTOE is a young, brilliant talent with a bright future. His distinct style and appearance have helped him stand out from the crowd and bring new excitement to the city. He's done something exceptional with his distinct flows, hooks, and instrumental selections that I haven't seen anybody else attempt before. His style is characterized by melodic lyrical rap. He provides a high level of intensity and a particular voice to his music, which really pushes through the rhythm. Tracks like "50 Grand 100 Grand" are excellent examples of his originality; he adds this distinct flow with a confident delivery to a simple yet hard-hitting beat and instrumentals. He takes a lighthearted approach to parts of his songs, such as the phone ringing in "50 Grand 100 Grand." This adds that level of depth and brings a lot of life into it. All his music videos take these aspects to another level and bring a fun light-hearted visual to help elevate the music even more. "50 Grand 100 Grand" and "Birkin" feature some of the most amusing but dramatic music videos I've seen from the city. There are very few musicians of his caliber that are breaking new ground not just in music but also in music videos. That's what DMTV is all about; we provide unique videos to the Toronto scene with me directing and bringing my visions to life. It's always nice to see others doing the same. The degree of thinking and preparation, as well as execution, required to create these pictures is tremendous, but the end result always shows.
His catalog is filled with fantastic titles, such as his most recent album, "Face Lift," which we highlighted in the daily music section. His talent shines through on this project, and his creativity is out of this world. I like the variety of sounds, and his cadence is something that doesn't immediately stand out, but when you listen to another artist and then come back, you can really hear it. However, his music releases date back to 2019 with his tune "Touring," which has over 800,000 streams as of this writing and is his most-streamed single to date. It's certainly not his first song, but it's a whole different version of KTOE, and it's wonderful to see how far he's come since then. He's truly found his voice, but his catchy and infectious songs have been with him since the beginning. This record's style is more of a hype tune with a hard-hitting beat. Something to dance to at a club. His lyrics are tough to understand, but his single-line delivery and melodic tone provide something that is impossible to put into words. It's just a feeling, and it doesn't need to be explained. His output continues with similarly themed hits such as "Not My Friends" and "Holy Ghost." "Holy Ghost" is where things truly started to shift as he began to bring out that lyrical KTOE. combining cinematic visuals with one-of-a-kind rhythms and instrumentals, as well as typical fly ad-libs. His cadence was much stronger and more confident, and this is when he truly showed off his rapper side. Following this, he released two singles and a six-track EP to the end of 2019, at which point his sound began to morph into what we hear today. Singles include "Alter Ego" featuring Yung Tory, "No Baker," and the six-track EP "I'm Mad." On this one, he experimented, bringing the best of all the sounds he was renowned for that year. He remained missing from his own single releases for the entire year of 2020, only appearing on BIIG RAX's "CHEQUE WEEK" EP. KTOE is a musician with a wide range of sounds and a genuine love of music. I'm excited to see what he has in store for us next, as well as what he has planned for the future.
