Froboii is a fresh and promising talent with a unique ability to freestyle and a confident demeanor. Froboii is a new addition to the city. I've never heard a freestyler as good as Froboii; he's on a battle rap level. He has the potential to cause havoc in a rap fight. His music is an excellent indication of how interesting he is. He doesn't sound like your ordinary Toronto rapper; he has a few natural qualities, and it's difficult not to be subconsciously inspired into doing things you hear on a daily basis. But that doesn't stop him from bringing a unique energy and style to his music. That will assist keep him from being confined to a box. His personality has a lot of great traits that will help him captivate audiences like his confidence, his humor, and his energy. He lights the room up with his energy and that sparks others’ energy whenever he’s around. His people skills are on another level and a massive strength in his favor.

But one thing many artists in Toronto have on their minds is how sounding like a Toronto artist will lower your reach to larger audiences and will prevent a more diverse fanbase. This is owing to the reputation of the Toronto rap scene around the world, as well as the street artists. It will take time to change the narrative, and DMTV will be at the forefront of it, but for the time being, artists must do whatever they can to get to the next level, and the US scene is a very appealing option for many. I prefer the Toronto scene because it's still an open slate with a lot of establishing to do, which is fantastic, but it comes at a cost, it's a lot harder, there's a lot of uncertainty, but it's open to your ideas and when you beat the odds, the road is open to you.

Froboii's discography is brief but potent. His set selection includes "Info," which was featured as our music of the week in October. "Momma Don't Change" is a raw and emotional track with a powerful story and message. The instrumentals will transport you back to the simpler times of hip hop in the 1990s and early 2000s. It's unique, especially coming from a young artist, and it's a message to his mother. Other more radio-friendly and melodic tracks, such as "What It Is" and "What You Like," show another side of Fro. These are more marketable and easier for the general consumer to enjoy, while music fans like myself will like and appreciate tracks like "Momma Don't Change”. Froboii is bringing something different to the scene, he has his place and it’s waiting for him to put his name on it.
