Booggz

Booggz is one of Toronto's early legends who delivers this distinct voice that separates his music. He has a worldwide vibe to him; he does not sound like a Toronto native, which is usually positive. His most recent album, "Father Figure," is a 13-track LP full of hard hitters such as "Shots Fired," "Auto Theft," and "HAD TO." This was a game-changing project that demonstrated Booggz's versatility and reach. Booggz has a distinct voice with a strong delivery and a vocal bend that causes his sentences to sound longer and more pronounced. His beat and instrumental selections also contribute to the energy and tone of his work. His production quality is equally great. All of these factors contribute to his success, and his discography dates back to as far as 2014. Modern rap In Toronto back 2014 was like the late 2000s in the US, it was the beginning of something new and fresh for the city after the underground lyrical MC left and the Drakes and Biebers became worldwide international. His first single was titled "Young Boss Cds." This has the early 2000s trap flavor to it, a combination of T-Pains autotune and the new-age trap sound that artists like Gucci Mane have on lock. There are even elements of the Chicago drill influence from guys like Sosa. He has a long musical past, which makes seeing his journey all the more incredible. He continues 2014 with two more singles, "Ain't Like Me" and "Sosa." All of these records came with an instrumental version; it's pure nostalgia. 2015 had a total of six singles. One of these was his first major single, "Back Challenger," which has amassed over 450,000 streams. It's amazing how close Booggz sounds here to his more recent work. At this point, he had discovered his sound and voice and was putting them into action. He continued to release music on a regular basis during 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Then, in 2020, we notice the first shift in pace, he was gone for the entire year with no releases.  2021came  with some major bangers including "Sorry for the wait," "Auto Theft," and "HAD TO." All of them were ultimately included on his album "Father Figure," which we discussed earlier. Booggz has been in the game for a long time, the longest out of any rapper rapping today. He has developed his sound over the years and has mastered his craft. He has done some great work over the years and he has most definitely become a Toronto legend. I’m excited to hear some new music and hope we get some very soon.
