Toronto Music Archive
Speng Squire has added another gem to his growing collection of quality music. The track is already gaining popularity among his fans and is sure to be a staple in summer playlists. The song showcases Speng's ability to create catchy and melodic tunes that are impossible to forget. There is just something about this track that really sticks to me. Comparing "Mexico" to "Gilbert Arenas," another one of Speng's popular tracks, shows just how versatile he can be. While "Gilbert Arenas" has a darker and more aggressive sound, it’s one of my personal favorites to this day. "Mexico" on the other hand is a bright and lively tune that brings a different energy to the table. Speng's ability to switch up his style and create different vibes is what sets him apart from other artists in the city. The production on "Mexico" is top-notch, with a simple yet thumpy beat and a fantastic instrumental that helps create the larger-than-life feel the track gives off. The atmosphere this instrumentals creates is one of the main reasons this track has such high energy to it. It sets the tone and vibe of the entire track right from the start. This paired with Speng's vocals are perfectly matched with the melody of the instrumentals, making for a seamless listening experience. His cadence is one of the more memorable aspects of his music. He has this clean yet versatile voice that he really utilizes in his music. He knows how to push his voice and get the sound he’s looking for. The confidence behind the smooth delivery is all I need to hear for me to really and truly understand someone's skill level. "Mexico" is a testament to Speng Squire's talent as an artist and his ability to create music that resonates with his fans. His consistency in style and sound is evident but he continues to find new ways to deliver it so that it always feels fresh. I’m excited to see what he has in store for us in the future, I can't wait to hear more from him. Hope to see a project of some kind in 2023, he needs to apply pressure on the city again.
