CASH ONLY by Frankie Valentino
Toronto Music Archive
Frankie Valentino has just dropped her latest single, "CASH ONLY," and it's definitely one of the more exciting tracks I've heard in the past month. The energy and hype behind the beat, combined with Frankie's fantastic delivery, make for a truly outstanding performance. Every aspect of the track, from the lyrics to the delivery, has been executed flawlessly and exudes an authentic and fun vibe. Normally, I'm not a big fan of tracks like this, as they tend to be repetitive and indistinguishable from one another. However, Frankie's sound is refreshingly different, with a cadence and style that sets her apart from the crowd. It's clear that Toronto has some of the best female artists in the game right now, and Frankie's sound is a testament to that. The production on "CASH ONLY" is great, the punchy kicks and dark repetitive piano riff just make for a cinematic and ominous instrumental. Frankie’s cadence has just the right amount of low-end punch balanced out by a crisp high-end. The resulting sound is clean and polished. Her cadence style provides ample room for diverse beat selection and vibe changes. This is of course her best sound so far, and her effortless flow on the beat is a true highlight of the track. The wordplay and lyrical content are also stand-out features to me. I know how common it is to hear aimless bars of the same topics and conversations across a large number of artists. I love quality wordplay and fun and memorable lyrics which this track does. One aspect of Frankie's artistry that sets her apart is her fashion sense. She clearly has a strong sense of style, and her energy on the mic complements her unique look perfectly. While she hasn't quite reached her superstar phase yet, she's well on her way, and her potential to take over the Toronto scene is undeniable. One thing that still amazes me is that Frankie is still relatively early in her career, with only two singles released so far, "CASH ONLY" and "LEVITATE ME." Despite being this early she's already making waves in the underground scene, and her sound is incredibly polished and well-honed. I'm excited to see where she goes from here, and I have no doubt that her discography will continue to evolve and expand in exciting new directions. With "CASH ONLY," Frankie has set the bar high, and I can't wait to see what she'll do next.
