Chikoruss just recently released his first official single titled “Body Language.” This track is obviously not his first song ever. Aside from that little detail, this is an amazing song, everything from the vocal delivery to the production, it’s done with precision. Chiko’s voice is one of the most angelic and perfectly fitted voices I have heard come out of the city. He really has a strong set of vocal chords and he knows how to use them. The visual aesthetic of the cover art adds another layer of appeal. The combination of Chiko's red letterman jacket against a matching backdrop creates a captivating atmosphere that complements the music perfectly. It comes as no surprise that "Body Language" has already garnered an impressive 2.3 million streams on Spotify alone. Chiko's artistry sets him apart as a distinctive breed of artist, captivating the hearts of his fans and positioning himself for mainstream recognition. In an industry where few are genuinely prepared for such a leap, Chiko stands out as someone destined for star-level success. Chiko really delivers some of the best vocal performances I have heard from any R&B artist or singer coming out of the city. The way his vocal tonality lands on the beat just feels so infectious and memorable. There are very few artists that give me such a strong vibe from one song, and Chiko is one of those. From the very first listen, I found myself entranced by Chiko's vibe and aesthetic. There's a natural confidence that radiates from him when he's on the mic, enhancing the impact of his sound. Notably, his ability to switch up his flows throughout the track keeps the listener engaged and prevents any moment from getting too dull or boring. The track has this fun upbeat tempo and bouncy beat that takes those vocals to another level. This track truly showcases his versatility and experience behind the mic. This is why I immediately noted that even though this is the first time I’m hearing him, I know he has many years of experience behind his belt. Typically, artists with limited discographies don't pique my interest, but Chiko breaks the mold entirely. In this one song, his talent and potential shine through brightly. Further glimpses into his journey can be found on his Instagram, where he shares moments like his live mic sessions with Sauce for "Body Language" and being part of the opening act for Bryson Tiller's Toronto Tour. Chiko's future looks incredibly promising, and I eagerly anticipate what he has in store next. Hopefully, we'll witness the release of more singles this year, along with the anticipation of a future full-length album or an EP.
