NightLovell
Toronto artist blog
NightLovell is an extremely talented and unique artist coming from Ottawa. Lovell is far from underground and is slowly getting into the mainstream media. His name has been growing exponentially and reaching millions of new eyes and ears. Lovell is a big artist relative to who we normally cover but I personally choose artists I believe are talented and deserve recognition whether they already have it or not. Lovell of course is no small artist but brings something so new and fresh to the table that I can’t leave him out just because he is already up there. This brings me to my next point, being a Canadian artist reaching his level of success isn’t easy but is definitely possible. Reaching towards the US audience is definitely what has propelled Lovell forward. He reminds me of a Canadian “Snot” but has a different approach. Snot is just the closest I can describe him if you have never heard of him. But his deep groggy voice brings something out of you that I can’t describe.
Most people a few years ago would call this trash or some sort of punk rapper, but the new sounds are being more and more accepted and this is due to the surge of new young hip hop listeners. This is why hip hop is the #1 genre, it has hundreds of subgenres that are all unique and bring something different to the table. Hip hop has become its own thing with separate genres connecting the entire thing. This is what’s great about it all we can have artists like Lovell and artists like Polo G who are completely different in every single way imaginable. But that’s what makes it so great.
Lovell has a pretty big discography, he has bangers like “Alone”, and “Counting Down the List”. These both are from his latest EP titled “Bottom Top”. I got introduced to Night Lovell through “Alone”. The track combined with the music video made for something different, the look and energy he brought to that track was something so different yet fantastic. Finding out he’s a Canadian native was a pleasant surprise too. This was something many people still don’t know about, it doesn’t change anything but is something that people should know. We don’t on;y have street rappers but other unique talents like Lovell and hundreds and thousands of others. He has collaborated with artists like FTG Reggie, & Lindasson on a track titled “A lot”. Bringing that street rap and Toronto vibe to the table, of course, he still has his unique sound but takes it to places you wouldn't expect. That’s what differentiates Lovell from the rest. I can’t wait to see what he does next and see him reach the next stage of superstardom.
