Kevy!
Toronto artist blog.
Kevy came across my radar a few weeks ago with his single "Noon Til' Noon." It had a great energy and vibe that was both refreshing and exciting. His cadence is distinct, and he has a very unique vocal quality. It's almost like Rich Amiri's deeper vocal style, but it has more depth, which is what sets him apart. His melodic approach makes his music catchy but also gives his music emotion and depth. His beat selection is great with good quality production. The instrumentals also hold a good sense of atmosphere which helps with setting a tone and vibe for the overall piece. While his discography is limited, the material he has released has been of high quality and consistent in style and delivery. His discography begins with his first release, "Soul 4 $ale," in early 2021. This is a full-length project consisting of 13 songs. It's not his first release clearly by the quality of this project and also his confidence behind the mic. The album produced a number of strong and memorable hits, including "saq chasa!" featuring pnny', "rosetta flow" featuring Lindasson, and "30deep!" It was difficult to choose my favourites because the entire project is very well put together and is a great experience from excellent from start to finish. The consistent sound and style across the entire project and even discography is something refreshing. I love versatility but Kevy's style and sound is so strong that the beat selection does enough to diversify the sound every time. The production on the project was superb, great choice on every song. The features on the project delivered great verses and brought something good to the project.
Lindasson is someone I've previously covered, he's a very talented artist with a very distinct sound and style but he meshes well with Kevy. Pnny! appears to be a close collaborator with Kevy, appearing on some of his biggest singles such as "saq chasa!" and "Noon Til' Noon." The pair sounds fantastic together, and their chemistry sounds genuine. His next single, "Noon Til' Noon," won't be released until late 2022. This is the song that first introduced me to him, and it's still one of my favourites. As previously stated, his frequent collaborations with Pnny! can be seen, with their duo having the greatest impact as seen by their high streaming numbers and quality mixes. The energy behind this track as well as the flows and melodies really come together to make a strong single. His next two tracks would be released in the same month, December. "Out on Bail" and "Ohio!". These deliver two distinct vibes while maintaining Kevy's signature cadence. "Out on Bail" has a more upbeat tone, and the visuals really bring the song to life. That's something very exciting about Kevy; he's been releasing a lot of high-quality music videos. This not only helps his music reach a larger audience, but it also makes the track more memorable and exciting. The visual aspect of music is very important and seeing Kevy on screen does a lot for a potential fan. His increase in content at the end of 2022 has me very excited for 2023. I'm excited to see where Kevy goes next. I need a project in the near future, as well as some more upbeat songs like "Out on Bail" and "Noon Til" Noon." Regardless, we are here for the journey.
