Kile is a very versatile artist. Someone with a lot of talent, energy and style. That is someone that is hard to find in a one package piece like Kile. I have the opportunity to personally work with Kile on a music video that is still in development and I can tell you that his unreleased album is going to rock the underground. He has some of the best energy on camera and on the mic. His sound and cadence is very flexible and diverse. His overall style and direction has been not fully clear and cut unlike the music he’s about to drop. But I can’t really speak on what hasn’t come out yet. His discography as it stands is a very impressive one and one that dates a few years back unlike a majority of underground talent in the city today. Kile’s discography begins in 2017 with a single titled “Smart Lingo.” I love the instrumental choice, the energy and hype is set right from the jump. He has this Caribbean feel and vibe with the beat selection and his more defined accent helps to push this sound even more. I was very surprised when I heard it, it’s a very well made and well mixed track. It’s a summer anthem that clearly didn’t get the push it deserved. His performance on the mic here isn’t out of this world and his recent music is night and day compared to this but it’s a very solid and good product that really showcases his abilities and skill set dating all the way back to 2017. That’s the year I got my first camera and started experimenting with vlogging and photography, three years before I even began to shoot music videos. So that’s just to put it into more perspective. 2017 would only give us two singles “Smart Lingo,” and “Roll.” both deliver a very similar aesthetic and vibe. 2018 would only deliver one single and that track is titled “COMMAND.” With a different approach Kile delivered a more hiphop oriented track that has a big emphasis on its melodic content. You can get a sense of his diversity with this track and his style becomes a lot harder to judge, which is a good thing. 2019 seems to be the year that Kile took music a lot more seriously and his rate of release was ramped up a lot.

He released a total of 4 singles ranging from “Calm Down,” “Me,” and “PEAK.” These deliver a good mix of sounds but his 5th release would be a short little 4 track project titled “AFTER/DARK.” It features three new singles “PEAK.” “FALLACY,” “ZONE,” and “GET YOU (LOOP)” being the new additions. This project gives off some Travis Scott influence but in a way that feels like an experiment on Kile’s part. A true artist learns and replicates something someone has done but better and I feel like Kile improved on some of the aspects of Travises sound in his own way. His cadence and mixing is great here and is a building point to who he would later become. The final release of 2019 would be his full length EP titled “THE PLAYGROUND.” This is a eight track project that delivers a similar sound and aesthetic as “AFTER/DARK.” At this point you can tell he kept an image and sound consistent, which helped him find his identity. “THE PLAN,” “HARDEST ALLEY OOP,” and “PERPLEXED” were some of my favorites of the project. He showcased his skills and his talents on this one. So I would highly praise this project and would highly recommend you to give it a listen. His next major year would be 2020. It would also be his most consistent year to date. He would release a total of eleven singles and three projects. There is too much to unpack all of them here. So I picked some of my personal favorites and the highlights of his singles for that year. “Can’t Tell,” “Wetin Dey Happen,” “CAMP,” and “Only One” have to be his most diverse and overall quality singles. It’s all subjective but I resonated with these the most. His style hasn’t changed much at this point but he has refined his quality and his delivery a lot since the first track. The amount of music he released this year is amazing, it was basically a monthly release schedule, which is very hard to come by especially when you’re fully independent and underground like Kile is. His first project was a collab tape titled “We’ll Be Fine.” with Underdawgbuju. They really delivered a unique sound and experience on this project, it’s definitely something very different from his usual sound. Buju had his sound early and this duo dynamic would form a powerful artist collective titled “Coppa Gang.” “Chxppa Bop,” “We’ll Be Fine,” and “Grinding” of the project would all deliver a different sound and feel from each other. “Grinding” has this older 2015/2016 Soundcloud sound to it while “Chxppa Bop” a more melodic viby hiphop acid rap aesthetic to it. “Hotline” would take their vocals performances to another level as well as their flows delivering new and exciting experiences.

They compliment each other well on these tracks and their voices are not too far apart that they sound completely different from one another. This lead to them releasing a deluxe version to “We’ll Be Fine.” It gave us a few new singles like “Today,” and “Rose.” “Rose” is my personal favorite. I love Kile’s cadence and voice on this track. He just sounds like an industry artist here. It’s super clean and full, Buju adds his signature cadence and classic flow style that spices things up and brings a bit of that high pitched grunge I love. The melodic approach is great and the beat selection fills in the void. It’s not a complex beat, rather one that does exactly what it’s designed to do without overpowering the rest of the sounds like the trend is with soundcloud rappers and the rage scene. Kile would later release his solo project titled “SUR SURA SUNDARI'' delivering a 10 track tape that sums up the best of Kile up until that point. “Me” delivered such a perfect sound and gave me my favorite moment to date. I love everything about it. Kile’s voice and delivery is immaculate. “Bet” delivers a similar sound with a more aggressive rap style to it. The production is incredible, it’s got amazing mixing, amazing transitions and Kile wipes the beat so effortlessly. Everything on this project is superb, the quality of the mixing, the beat selection, the delivery and cadence is all so well done. With the amount of music he released I can’t cover all the songs in this article but I highly recommend you to give this project a listen. 2021 would be very similar in sound and style so not much happened in that sense, he kept releasing music fairly consistently until 2022. This year he would deliver only a two track package and a full length album titled “Spirited Away.” This project offers us 16 singles with “Hop In,” “Back To Base,” and “Touch Down” being some of the highlights. “Touch Down” sounds like the most radio ready/ album’s main promo single while tracks like “Hop In,” “I Spy,” and “Friend or Feux” are the more experimental tracks delivering diversity to the project. This is a very well put together project with incredible quality music and amazing production and mixing. This is definitely his best work to date, but there is so much good music it’s hard to argue which is better. His latest release to date was titled “SO FAR READY.” He pulled back the clock and went to his early roots and brought back his Caribbean reggaeton vibe with his melodic vocals. The tracks are great and they showcase how diverse Kile really is. Kile is about to enter his next phase in his career and his sound is about to make a huge shift, I’m excited to see him in 2023, hope to hear lots of new music release and hope to see him perform at some point as well.
