Jonah Zed is without a doubt one of Toronto's most brilliant artists. Someone with pure raw talent who has thankfully received the attention and support he deserves, which makes this all the more incredible when going over Jonah's career and discography. Jonah has been openly releasing songs since 2020. Not sure how long he's been making music exactly but based on the quality, he's been making music for a good number of years. But he's been publicly releasing music for only 2 of those years. Everything from his EP "SUMMER IN SLOW MOTION" through his collaboration with Patric CC on the project "Launch Sequence" for a track named "Black Hole Sun." This was a huge stride forward in Jonah's career, bringing a lot of fresh and welcomed attention to his music. As of the writing of this article, he had officially surpassed 100,000 monthly Spotify streams. It's been incredible to watch the development of such a remarkable artist from a little town in Ontario. Jonah’s style and sound is a unique piece that really can be described at times as angelic, soft yet punchy when needed. His versatility is undeniable and is one of his most acclaimed traits. His sound even though to a regular ear may sound familiar I can say it’s unique and distinct. But if I had to say who he kind of reminds me of. The Weeknd, maybe even aspects of Post Malone. But these are all a stretch. I could go on and on and who he might sound like but we can all hear his voice, you can see that he has truly found cadence and his delivery style.

Jonah's discography begins with "better when," a track released two years ago by Pretty Boy Ron featuring Jonah Zed, ListenToAngelo, and Watson. "body buzzin" was the title of his debut solo single. It's a punchy, cinematic, and sonic masterpiece. The year 2021 was much more consistent, with some huge singles and projects. His first single that year was titled “tired”, it’s a slower, more heartfelt record with a more vocal performance and a show of tonal range.  His following hit, "HORIZONS," was more lively, joyful, and groovy. This resulted in a funkier groovy instrumental, with Jonah providing a melodic and expressive performance. Jonah's next song will be "MOONSHOT," a melodic HipHop and R&B hybrid. It's such a distinct sound, and Jonah nails it every time. The instrumentals are basic, yet they provide a lot of atmosphere to the track and help bring everything together.  Jonah then follows up with a five-track EP titled "SUMMER IN SLOW MOTION," which includes hard-hitting songs like "who you callin' cold-hearted?", "sun in the summers," and "cranberry." Jonah's versatility is evident throughout his record, but he takes it to a new level with this EP. The slower, darker tone of "cranberry" contrasts with the quicker, bouncy, funky "who you callin' cold hearted?". These singles not only tell the story, but they are also Sonic masterpieces, with some of the most infectious records I've heard coming out of Toronto. It's on a whole different level. Following that, he will appear on the Patric CC exclusive album "Launch Sequence." His song is not only the first but also the most memorable. Jonah's performance on that single opened up a lot of fresh eyes and ears for him. Jonah's versatility and artistic ability are demonstrated by the fact that he and Skaiwaters can sound so amazing on the same record. Jonah is still in the early stages of his career, no matter how long he has been at it. His professional career is still ahead of him, and I can imagine him being a massive star or a world-renowned writer. I've even seen him produce for smaller acts in the city, so Jonah's possibilities are endless and I'm excited to see where he goes next.
