Boy Pape
Toronto artist blog
Boy Pape is someone that is pushing the boundaries. He is creating new sounds and mixing sounds you haven’t heard together before. His flows and rimes are unique and different every time. His vocal range is one of his major strengths. This combined with his unique flows and his different rhythms makes for something fresh and new. The city needs more unique and even tho it does not enough of them release enough or take it seriously enough to make any impact. This is what made Pape stand out to me when I first stumbled upon his track titled “Phone Down”. “Phone Down” is definitely one of his best overall tracks. It ticks all the boxes and is mainstream radio-ready. His last few tracks releases titled “Jokic” & “Wrong Time Wrong Place” have been steps in a new direction.
Pape resides in Toronto but was actually born in New York. The United States has played and will continue to play a role in his career. This is something that most Canadian artists do and it totally makes sense. To take your career to the next level you must go to the US. This is a step all successful artists, producers, and even directors have done to reach the level they are at. But like I mentioned before and the underlining goal of DMTV is to one day change that. I’m not talking about someday 10 years from now but in a much sooner timeline of around 3-5 years. It’s a massive plan and goal but one that 3 months ago was unattainable but now is. This all applies to Pape in a way that it’s just a matter of time when that one track gets pushed heavily and gets some radio play and heavy playlisting I can see Pape really making it big. It’s all about making music that will slowly build a devoted fanbase and being true to himself like he has been for the last 5 years.
Pape has been doing this for a good number of years. His discography goes as far back as 2016 with his single titled “Pretty boy”. This just goes to show how it may take a few months to a year for some to see major success and how it may take some, years and years to get where they want to be. Pape may have not seen all of his success yet but he is slowly building that fanbase and building that lane for himself to be ready for that opportunity that will surely come his way soon, he just needs to be ready to execute on it when it comes. I love that sound the look and the style of Pape, it’s unique and it’s different for Toronto. That’s what the city needs and I can’t wait to see what Pape does next.
