Afta Hill’s

latest release is a 3-track EP titled “YOU AND I.” The project starts off strong with the song “PERSIAN GIRLS PT.2,” which has been gaining a lot of attention online. People are really connecting with it, and it’s exciting to watch Afta’s hard work start to pay off as his music catches on. There's something undeniably catchy about “PERSIAN GIRLS PT.2” that makes it resonate with listeners. It has the qualities that make it perfect for TikTok—like that contagious beat that’s so easy to get stuck in your head. But there’s more to it than just the social media appeal; it’s genuinely a good song that stands out on its own. The production of this track is top-notch. What’s interesting is how Afta doesn’t stick to the usual patterns you hear in mainstream music today.

Instead, he brings in unique rhythms and beats, giving the track a fresh and distinct sound. As a drummer, I really appreciate how Afta uses different time signatures. Tracks like this have rhythms that break away from the standard 4/4 beat you often hear. Instead, they explore more complex patterns, like 5/8 or 7/8, which give the song a unique twist. This approach is something you see a lot in music from other cultures, but it’s rare in Western pop music. Afta’s style incorporates influences from various musical traditions. As a Persian artist, he weaves in sounds that aren’t typically featured in Western pop, making his music feel new and exciting. There’s an element of displaced beats that’s popular in many cultures, and it’s great to see artists like Afta bringing that into the spotlight.

Social media platforms like TikTok have been fantastic for showcasing these diverse sounds, exposing Western audiences to music they might not have discovered otherwise. Genres like Brazilian funk and Dominican beats have introduced listeners to punchy, unconventional rhythms. Afta brings that same unorthodox flair to his music, setting him apart from other artists and giving him a unique edge. Beyond “PERSIAN GIRLS PT.2,” the rest of the EP also delivers a solid listening experience. The title track, “YOU AND I,” has a fun and lively vibe that’s hard to resist. It’s upbeat and energizing, perfect for a party or just brightening up your day. The final track, “FADED,” has a similar feel but with a twist.

It leans more toward a dancehall vibe, giving it a bit of a groovy, tropical feel that adds some variety to the EP. Personally, “FADED” is my favorite song on the project. I think it’s underrated and deserves more recognition, but I’m confident it will find its audience over time. Overall, Afta’s EP, “YOU AND I,” is a well-rounded project that fits perfectly within today’s music scene while also offering something new. Each song brings something different to the table, and the EP has a cohesive style that makes it a satisfying listen from start to finish. I’m looking forward to seeing where Afta goes from here. It would be exciting to see him collaborate with bigger names in the industry, as his unique sound has a lot to offer. Afta is clearly an artist with a vision, and I can’t wait to hear what he has in store for us next.
