Lil Ot is a young up-and-coming artist from Hamilton Ontario. He only just recently began releasing music and already has multiple bangers under his belt that have yet to blow up. This is not to say they haven’t received very positive reviews and very good attention. For someone this new in the music game, he’s something special. He brings something new and fresh to Toronto. Tracks like “Jungle” & “Letter to my dawg” are full of hard-hitting lyrics. It’s filled with genuine emotion and real experiences. Lil OT makes music about his life and his experiences, not fabricated bullshit. We won’t be going into Ot’s history of any kind but I can definitely say that he ain’t playing when he says something in his raps. This type of genuine approach to his own music is why people can appreciate it and have some sort of connection to it. Some people may even directly relate to his lyrics. Depends on what lifestyle you living but having something like this is definitely very unique and gives these people a real voice. Rappers who glorify these things don’t tell or support the people who really live that lifestyle, they use it as a way to act cool and get attention.

Ot on the other hand sounds like a very loyal and dedicated individual. He talks about some heavy material, lyrics like “If your my dawg I’d through my life away”. These types of lyrics are what separates Ot from the rest. Ot is a storyteller, he reminds me of King Von. Von was something different, a different take on hood music. He told extremely detailed and interesting stories. It felt like you were listening to a movie, you could visualize the experiences in your head and feel like your a part of his story. For story-based tracks, there always needs to be quality music videos to accompany them. The video for “Jungle” (directed by Lawraines) is a great example of how to take an emotional story-driven track and give it an identity. The video showcased scenes of a drive-by shooting, Ot getting shot, his homie dying in his hands, and him getting interrogated by police after being snitched on. This creates a final product that is action-packed and filled with genuine events of Ot’s life. With over 10,000 monthly streams Lil Ot is well on his way to being a top-performing artist in Toronto.
