JUGGER

I just stumbled upon a very unique and larger-than-life persona. JUGGER, a Toronto native is an energetic and polarizing sound in the scene. His unique sound and aesthetic sets him apart from the average artist. JUGGER is the first signee to the Grammy-nominated producer WondaGurl’s label imprint, Wonderchild under Red Bull Records. JUGGER has the support of the industry and his quality reflects that. JUGGER’S discography dates back to October 2018 with his single titled “ARC’Y BOYZ.” This is an even more grungy and aggressive version of JUGGER’S we know today. The quality of the production is fantastic here, it’s clearly not his first song ever but it’s clear JUGGER has been doing his thing for some time. Artists who put time into their craft and take a longer time to pop off usually tend to have longer and more meaningful careers. Blowing up from just a few songs brings a different level of ego to the table that just destroys artists from having long and meaningful careers, it’s something that happens time and time again. There is also something a little strange to have the whole world see you go from mediocre to great, that level of pressure is not always good to have. JUGGER’S is the type of artist that won’t ever have mass appeal like Drake or Justin Bieber but will have a large enough cult-like fanbase that will make him a lot more profitable. His first song sits at 270,000 streams on Spotify alone. 2019 would start very strong with JUGGER’S releasing his debut project titled “PSYCO.” This 7 track project delivers some of his most well-crafted songs like “EXCUSE ME,” “500 HORSES,” and “DARK LIT.” I love the high energy and punchy beat selection. JUGGERS has this almost Travis Scott-like cadence at times, like on “500 HORSES” you get to experience a different type of cadence that feels like a different artist. The production quality of this project is amazing. There is a consistent style across all of his music here and the project keeps that energy throughout its production. 2019 would deliver a few more singles and another EP titled “BOOGEYMAN.” The consistent style behind the production and visual aesthetic side is superb. Even the all caps on all his music titles is something that seems so minuscule in reality adds to the bigger picture of his overall unique aesthetic. One of my favorite tracks to this date is “ALCHEMIST.” I love this flow and cadence style, this is the most polished and mainstream sound he’s got and I feel like this is the sound that really got me excited for more music. His flow changes on that song are amazing, the production is as always fantastic here. Things got more experimental and artistic on the project “BOOGEYMAN.” Tracks like “REBEL BOY,” and “LOADED” are keeping that aggressive gungy sound that he’s known for but some of the other tracks like “OUIJA” brings the cadence of his aggressive gungy sound but mixes it with lyrical rap-type delivery. It’s probably the best track of the project, his lyrical content here is on another level to his other songs and it was a pleasant surprise to hear this. I love how he would continue to experiment in his music, a perfect example is a track off the project titled “DON’T GO IN THERE.” It’s like an ambient soundtrack. No vocals on this, all instrumentals and sound design. I don’t normally hear stuff like this on projects so it was something fresh and new to me, definitely made the project more cinematic. 2020 would ramp up the quality even more, we only got two singles but both feel like a blend of the grungy aggressive sound and his more mainstream autotuned melodic voice. It’s a blend that works really well on the single “BAD GUY.” The music video for this track really brings that cinematic yet dark aesthetic JUGGER has to life. The location choices and lighting really set the mood and brought this already great track to another level. After this, we wouldn’t get anything from JUGGER until 2023. This is due to his signing with Wonderchild Records. I know that there are a lot of things that happen when signing to a label and shifting a trajectory. But I like where JUGGER is going with his most recent work. “Stung Devil” is his first single back after almost 3 years of not releasing. This track is great, the slightly altered aesthetic and sound feel a lot more refined. His voice changed a little bit over this period of time. He feels a lot more mature here too. The artwork and wardrobe feel a lot more cohesive this year, he really and truly feels like a complete artist here. I’m excited to see where he goes next and hopes to see him put together his first full-length body of work.
