44romance has been making some amazing music over the last year, and following his journey has been incredible. I admire his stylistic versatility as well as his ability to create high-quality music in a variety of styles. You have the more underground, hyper-pop rage style on tracks like "Eyes on her," as well as the more melodic emo rap and pop sound on tracks like "Senorita." His sounds have simply evolved into something very marketable, and I believe it was a wise decision in the long run. 44 has a great voice, with a crisp yet smooth vocal tone and punchy delivery. He adds a lot of vibration to his vocal delivery, which just emphasizes the notes more. His voice has evolved significantly over the last three years of releasing music. This is very apparent when looking back at his discography. It all started in  2019, with his first single, "All I Wanted Was Luv 2." This track is far from the quality we've come to expect from 44, but it's amazing to see how far they've come in just a few years. The mixing leaves much to be desired, the delivery is shaky and unnatural. You can tell 44 wasn't yet at ease behind the mic. However, it has some really dope wavy flows and a distinct sound for the city at the time. "Gotta Go" would be his next single. This track begins with some good instrumentals that set the perfect tone for the rest of the song. 44's vocal mixing has vastly improved; he now has a cleaner, more refined sound and quality behind it. He sounds much more assured and passionate than before. This track is already miles ahead of the first. There would be a lot more tracks released in 2020, "Lonely Benz," "Dash 2!," "Left4Dead," and "Good Luck." The majority of these tracks had a similar feel and aesthetic. It has that love song/break-up vibe to it. He reminds me of Juice Wrld and Kid Laroi. Just the vibes and vocal delivery really felt familiar. The sound would be maintained in 2021, but he would begin to experiment more. His first single that year, "Out My Mind," featured a different tone of voice for 44. His deeper, more chilled voice, while attempting to harmonize, reminds me of early 2000s punch pop bands like Green Day and Blink 182. Something about his more mellowed voice just embodies those vibes. His first project, "Celestial Paradise," would be released in 2021. This is a 5 track EP with the highlights being “Paperchaser,” “Problem,” and “Dummy.” This is 44's first cohesive body of work, and it's amazing to see something with such consistency so early on in his career. This project is great from top to bottom. I really like the mix quality, the production is the best yet, and 44 sounds fantastic on this. It also featured classic performances by Kid Kwazii and Misaa. This is where I feel we started to see the 44 we know and love being to find his place. The rest of 2021 would bring us great singles across the board and a transition into a more Hyperpop and rage genre of hip-hop. The first more hyper pop, the plugnb track "Theoretical." That, combined with 44's already excellent voice, creates a truly unique experience. 44 really stands out in the underground scene, due to his mainstream-sounding voice and delivery style. This would only get more consistent moving into the present year of 2022. "Eyes on her," "Fuck It Up," and "Senorita" are some of his best this year, these are hit-worthy records that have really propelled his name into the conversation. The quality of the mix and production has only gotten better since last year, and it's a noticeable improvement. Production is a massive part of any music but 44 has made it work regardless of the track and its style. I'm looking forward to a full-length project in the near future. We need that 44 album asap. I feel like he is ready for a massive body of work. This will be the next chapter and maybe the project that propels him into stardom.
