Swavy’s

latest single, “Have Her,” has been on repeat for me over the past two months, and honestly, this write-up is long overdue. Swavy is quickly becoming one of the top emerging melodic rappers coming out of Toronto, and it’s clear why. His ability to craft catchy melodies, combined with a smooth flow and excellent choice in beats, makes him stand out in Toronto’s music scene. “Have Her” is no exception to this. What I really love about this track is how different it feels compared to some of his other music. The intro is slower and less polished, which gives it a raw, stripped-back vibe that immediately draws you in.

It feels like you're being set up for something big, and the build-up from the start is incredibly well done. You can sense the atmosphere he's creating, and it puts you in the perfect headspace to enjoy the song. The vibe is mellow but still full of energy, something Swavy seems to balance perfectly. Then, at 0:56 seconds, the beat drops, and the flow completely switches up. This moment is a real standout for me because it’s so refreshing and unexpected. The way Swavy switches his flow reminds me a little bit of what Drake does when he’s in his more playful, enthusiastic mode. It’s fun and energetic, but it doesn’t feel forced or cheesy.

This kind of delivery is hard to pull off, and only a few artists can really do it without it feeling over the top or corny. Swavy does it effortlessly, making the song even more enjoyable. One thing I always appreciate about Swavy is his vocal style and cadence. His voice has this unique tonality that makes his sound immediately recognizable, and you can tell he’s really worked hard to perfect it. It’s clean and polished, yet still distinct enough that you know it’s him as soon as you hear it. There aren’t many artists who can balance that kind of precision with originality, but Swavy nails it every time.

Even though Swavy has been gaining a lot of attention and has established a decent fan base, I still feel like he’s one of the more underrated acts in the city. Toronto has a lot of talent, but sometimes the music scene here makes it hard for certain artists to break through on a bigger level. That being said, I truly believe Swavy has the potential to make it big, especially in the U.S. market. His sound is fresh, his style is authentic, and he’s got all the qualities needed to take his career to the next level. I’m excited to see where he goes from here and can’t wait to hear what he drops next.
